Publish to Subdirectory Using FrontPageThere are three ways to publish to a subdirectory using FrontPage:
Creating a FrontPage Subweb Publishing with any Username & Password you defineThis option will allow you to manage the subdirectory hosted site as a separate website on your computer1. Create a FrontPage Subweb for the www.subdirectory-hosted-domain.com folder
www.master-domain.com/_vti_bin/_vti_adm/fpadmcgi.exe
Select the "Use same permissions as parent web"
Select "Use unique permissions for this web"
Note: To avoid errors in this step wait until it has returned to the administration page. Depending on the size of your master domain website including all of the subdirectories this step may take a very long time. 2. Design the subdirectory hosted website in its own location on your computer using FrontPage.3. Publish the website to www.master-domain.com/www.subdirectory-hosted-domain.com
Publishing to the Subdirectory Indirectly using FrontPage1. Design the subdirectory hosted website inside of your existing master-domain website using FrontPage.
2. Publish the website to www.your-master-domain.com Publishing to the Subdirectory Indirectly using FrontPage FTP publishingThis option should only be taken if problems occur in both of the first two options. In this unlikely event you would publish indirectly but would use the FTP option in FrontPage when actually publishing. |
