Problem:
Not all emails appear in webmail, email programs across different computers, or other internet enabled devices.
Applies to:
Multiple POP3 enabled programs or devices simultaneously downloading email.
Cause:
E-mail is delivered to and resides on the machines that handle a domains email. If we host your email then email delivered to your address is delivered to and resides on our machines.
Your email program then periodically pops in (applies to POP3 not IMAP) and by default deletes your email once downloaded to your computer. For this reason you would not have all email available on multiple computers or in webmail unless you configured your email program to leave a copy of messages on the server.
Solution:
- Set all devices to both leave messages on the server and to delete messages after a certain numer of days.
- NOTE: each computer must check for messages at least once during the [X] amount of days period in order for both computers to have all the e-mail. Additionally, webmail will only have access to e-mail that is left on our servers.
For Outlook 2000 2002 2003:1. Open Outlook 2000 2002 2003:
- Click Tools
- Click Email Accounts
- Click Next (the dot is in View or change existing email accounts)
- Click Change
- Click More Settings
- Click "Advanced" tab
- Check "leave a copy of messages on ther server"
- Check "delete after [X] amount of days"
- Change the "[X] amount of days" to the number of days you wish to leave e-mail on our server for downloading e-mail from two different computers and/or webmail access.
NOTE: each computer must check for messages at least once during the [X] amount of days period in order for both computers to have all the e-mail. Additionally, webmail will only have access to e-mail that is left on our servers.
2. Click Next3. Click Finish
For Outlook Express:1. Open Outlook Express:
- Click Tools
- Click Accounts
- Click Mail (tab at top)
- Click Properties (Account may need to be selected first if you have more than one)
- Click "Advanced" tab
- Check "leave a copy of messages on ther server"
- Check "delete after [X] amount of days"
- Change the "[X] amount of days" to the number of days you wish to leave e-mail on our server for downloading e-mail from two different computers and/or webmail access.
